Óscar Del Brutto Andrade

Óscar Del Brutto is a partner at Coronel & Pérez. His professional activity focuses on commercial litigation and arbitration, both local and international, as well as corporate and contractual matters. He is a professor of Law of Obligations at the Faculty of Law, Politics and Development of the University of Specialties Espíritu Santo. He is also a columnist for the newspaper El Universo.

Arbitration & Litigation

  • Member of the team that produced several expert reports presented within arbitrations and legal proceedings brought by Chevron Corporation and Texaco Petroleum Company against the Republic of Ecuador.
  • Member of the team that produced several expert reports in the ICSID arbitration followed by Occidental Petroleum against the Republic of Ecuador.
  • Member of the team that represented a US bank and later the FDIC in an international arbitration against a New York investment fund that concluded with an award favorable to the FDIC.
  • Member of the team that represented a local construction company in an arbitration against a state contractor.
  • Member of the team that represented a German citizen in a moral damage trial against an Ecuadorian financial institution.

  • Main external lawyer for several years of a multinational dedicated to the sale of chemical products for construction.
  • Member of the team that advised a US company in the purchase of a cocoa farm in Ecuador.
